Charles Sanford Smith

Charles Sanford Smith is a criminal defense attorney serving the New York Metropolitan Area. Charles represents individuals arrested and charged with committing criminal offenses, guiding them through the criminal justice system. Charles is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School and the University of Maryland. At Brooklyn Law School he was a Carswell Scholar and received the CALI Excellence for the future award in Criminal Law as well as the Judge Nathan Sobel Prize upon graduation. His prior experience includes the New York City Department of Probation, The Kings County District Attorney's Office as well as the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York. He founded the Law Offices of Charles Sanford Smith in 2012. Charles is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, the Brooklyn Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the NORML Legal Committee. Charles is also the Founder of a cannabis consulting business focused on strategy and licensing. Charles is a trusted advisor to cannabis businesses throughout the country having worked with clients in over a dozen regulated cannabis markets.
